| Pike's Peak Week Kickball Tournament |
|
This year's Pike's Peak Week will include many events and will be headlined by the charity kickball tournament on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the University of Louisville Intramural Fields. Any organization or group may enter a team with a $100 donation to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Kentuckiana. The entry fee will guarantee two games played in a double-elimination tournament format, and possibly more depending on the number of teams that enter the tournament. It will also include food for participants throughout the day. Six hours of community service will be given to all participants regardless of time spent playing.
The kickball tournament is meant to bring together U of L's Greek community, Recognized Student Organizations (RSO's), and other proactive local groups for a day of friendly competition, food, and altruism. Contact Will Sanford (wpsanf01@louisville.edu) with any questions and to enter your team!

| Pike Hosts Kickball Tournament for BBBS |
|

The brothers of the Kappa Zeta Chapter hosted a successful Kickball Tournament for Big Brothers Big Sisters as their Philanthropy Day event on March 29, 2008. Five sororities were in attendance to support and play with children on the waiting list for BBBS. Members of each sorority were placed on a team with the children to form a kickball team. The championship was played between Sigma Kappa and Delta Zeta, where SK put together a heroic rally in the last inning to tie the game. Unfortunately, the game was called a tie due to a nasty man that hates children. Concessions were also served for donations, all of which went to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Pictures from the day can be found here.

| Pikes Help BBBS of Kentuckiana |
This is the story that was given to us directly from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana (our chapter's premiere philanthropy):
10 members of the University of Louisville Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity participated in a BB&T Bowl for Kids' Sake fundraising event on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at Ten Pin Lanes in St. Matthews.
The PKA players enjoyed two games of bowling, pizza and soft drinks, plus received a commemorative T-shirt and various door prizes. Each bowler contributed a minimum of $80 in donations. They had fun, helped Kentuckiana kids and raised more than $1,000 to assist Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana in reaching its fundraising goal.
All net proceeds from the event directly benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana and the agency's mission, allowing them to continue recruiting, pairing and supporting adult volunteers with children in our community, in one-on-one mentoring relationships. |
