Alumni Win Softball Game
Pike held its semi-annual Active/Alumni sporting event on Saturday, Oct. 20th. The Alumni won over an unknown amount of innings, 27-14. It should be noted, however, that these alumni were not tested for steriods prior to this event, raising questions about the legitimacy of this victory. A grill out was held at President Mastin's house afterwards. Please check back for information on an event during the spring semester. The active chapter would like to thank the alumni for their continued support of our chapter.

Steve Gerl wins Prestigious 'King of Kurz'
Brother Gerl, a resident of the University of Louisville Properties building Kurz Hall, won a competition on Monday night for the title of King of Kurz. The contest consisted of a test of the contestant's knowledge of today's culture, a display of attitude and fashion, questions from the judges, and a display of talent. Steven won over the Kappa Delta judges with a serenade during the talent portion. The title came with a Playstation 3, a $500 Cosmo photo shoot, and a Hooters' gift basket. The webmaster caught up with Steve after the award ceremony: "I really have to give all the credit to God. I went out there and gave 110%, but I knew that I had to just let the chips fall in the end." Congratulations, Steve.

Schnellenberger Speechless On Louisville Fans
Pike and Florida Atlantic Football Coach Howard Schnellenberger was disappointed with the actions of the Louisville fans as of late. Schnellenberger, who coached for 10 years at Louisville from 1985-94, also was a major influence in starting the Kappa Zeta colony. When told that most of the fans left early in Louisville's recent upset by Syracuse, Schnellenberger replied, "Are you kidding?" The full Courier Journal article can be found here.

MOST IMPROVED CHAPTER
|
At the Greek Awards on April 18th, Pike took home the award for most improved chapter on campus. This wraps up a year with many goals met. Last fall, the Kappa Zeta Chapter recognized its weakness was its lack of numbers. They had the quality individuals they were looking for, but in order to get everything done in the community they wanted to they knew they had to seek out "the most, best men", so to speak. So, here we stand, two semesters later, with 25 members more to add 15 from one year ago.
As this semester draws to a close, look for even more exciting things to come in the fall. Pike now has the scholars, leaders, athletes, and gentlemen it was looking for this year, and the results are already starting to show. Though we have bolstered our numbers, we are always looking for a few more outstanding individuals. If you are going to be attending the University of Louisville in the fall, check back for updates on this website for fall rush. (See the Rush section of this site as August draws closer...)
